Red Pebbles and Red Decorative Stone

Red decorative stone is a high-contrast line that moves quickly in spring. We supply naturally red and red-brown pebbles and chippings graded to consistent size bands, washed so the colour reads clearly rather than being muted by quarry dust.

  • Natural red and red-brown tones from hard, non-fading stone
  • Washed so colour shows without a dust film
  • Rounded pebble and angular chipping options
  • Retail bags, jumbo bags or loose bulk

Rounded pebble or angular chipping

Rounded red pebbles suit beds and pots where the look matters more than the footing. Angular red chippings lock together and stay put on a slope or driveway, so they are the right pick anywhere the surface is walked or driven on.

Colour that lasts outdoors

We supply red stone whose colour comes from iron content in the rock, not from a surface treatment. Coated red stone looks strong on the shelf and then patches within one or two seasons of sun and rain, which costs a retailer far more in credit notes than it saved on purchase price.

Using red as a contrast line

Red rarely carries a whole scheme on its own. It works hardest as a banding or accent against white marble chips, black pebbles or grey slate. Merchandising it beside those lines at retail lifts the attachment rate on all of them.

Coverage and depth

As a rule, one tonne of 20-40 mm stone covers about 10-12 square metres at a 50 mm depth. Beds need 50 mm to suppress light; trafficked paths need 50-75 mm laid over a compacted sub-base with a membrane beneath.

Packing and load planning

Retail bags palletise at roughly 1,000-1,250 bags per 20 ft container. Bulk loads travel loose or in jumbo bags. Because stone is weight-limited, the container reaches its ceiling before it looks full.

Wholesale, bulk and export details

This product is supplied on the same commercial basis as the rest of our range: quantity confirmed against container payload, packing quoted separately and documentation prepared to your broker's brief.

Questions buyers ask about red pebbles

Will red stone fade in strong sunlight?
Natural iron-coloured stone holds its tone for years. Dyed material fades, which is why we do not supply it.
Should I choose pebbles or chippings for a driveway?
Chippings. Angular faces interlock under vehicle weight, while rounded pebbles roll and migrate into ruts.
How deep should red stone be laid in a bed?
Around 50 mm over a weed membrane. Thinner layers let light through and weeds come up; thicker layers just cost more material.
Can you match a specific red shade?
Send a photo or a physical sample. We will match against available quarry material and confirm with a sample before production, rather than promising an exact match on natural stone.
Is red stone suitable for planted areas?
Yes, it is chemically inert and safe around planting. For acid-loving plants confirm the stone type with us, as limestone-based material can raise soil pH over time.
What sizes do you keep available?
8-12 mm, 10-20 mm, 20-40 mm and 40-60 mm are the standard bands. Other bands can be screened to order on sufficient volume.
