Why yards prefer bulk bags
A jumbo bag moves from container to rack to customer vehicle in three lifts with no re-handling. Loose bulk is cheaper per tonne but costs far more in yard labour, sweeping and stock loss, which usually wipes out the saving within one container.
Fabric, loops and safe working load
We use UV-stabilised woven polypropylene with four lifting loops and a stated safe working load carrying a 5:1 safety factor. Bags that sit outdoors for months need the UV grade; standard fabric degrades and fails at the loops after long sun exposure.
Liners for fine material
Grit, sand and fine chippings sift through unlined woven fabric and leak in transit. A polythene liner keeps fines contained and also keeps moisture out, which matters for anything being sold as a dry bagged product.
Loading and container weight limits
A 20 ft container typically takes 25-26 one-tonne bags before the road weight limit at destination becomes the constraint. We load to your destination's legal limit rather than filling the box, so nothing is refused at the port.
Labelling and traceability
Bags can carry printed or tagged labels with product name, size band, batch and your own SKU, so stock rotates correctly in the yard and any query can be traced back to a production batch.

- How many jumbo bags fit in a 20 ft container?
- Around 25-26 one-tonne bags in practice, with the destination road weight limit usually deciding the exact figure rather than the space available.
- Are the bags reusable?
- They are designed for single trip use. Some yards reuse them internally, but the safe working load rating only applies to the first lift cycle.
- Can we have our own branding on the bags?
- Yes, printed bags or printed labels to your artwork are available on programme volumes.
- Do bulk bags survive being stored outside?
- UV-stabilised fabric handles normal outdoor storage for months. Ask specifically for the UV grade if bags will sit in strong sun.
- Can jumbo bags and retail bags ship together?
- Yes. Splitting a container between bulk bags for the yard and retail packs for the shelf is a common arrangement.
- What fill weights are available?
- 500 kg, 1,000 kg and 1,250 kg are standard; other fill weights can be set to match your handling equipment.
