How we support architectural specifications
We provide sealed reference samples, written size and finish specifications, and batch photographs before loading. This gives specifiers the documentation needed to name a product in a tender and defend it against substitution.
Specifying the right stone
A good stone specification states origin, stone type, size band, colour tolerance, finish, laid depth and tonnage with wastage allowance. General descriptions such as 'decorative pebble' lead to disputes. We can help draft precise wording.
Colour and size tolerance
Natural stone varies. We agree a tolerance range against the reference sample — for example, maximum percentage of off-colour or chipped pieces — and sort to that tolerance rather than to a vague 'best quality' description.
Phase matching on large projects
For projects built in phases we reserve material from the same sorting batch and retain the reference sample so later phases match earlier ones. This is critical on visible landscaping where any colour shift is noticeable.
Sustainability and origin documentation
We can confirm the stone origin and provide the documentation typically needed for project records, including certificates of origin and packing lists. Specific sustainability certifications should be discussed at enquiry stage.
Samples for design teams
We supply sample sets for design team review, including dry and wet appearances where relevant. For high-value projects we recommend physical samples rather than photographs because screen colours do not match stone.
Incoterms and risk allocation
We quote FOB or CIF as standard and can discuss other Incoterms. Marine insurance and risk allocation should be confirmed in writing at quotation stage, not assumed.
Container and project logistics
A 20ft container carries roughly 24–26 tonnes of decorative stone. For large projects we can plan multiple containers against a programme and hold stock for phased release where the schedule requires it.
Wholesale, bulk and export details
This product is supplied on the same commercial basis as the rest of our range: quantity confirmed against container payload, packing quoted separately and documentation prepared to your broker's brief.
Questions buyers ask about pebbles for architects
- Can you supply written specifications for tender documents?

- How do you ensure batch consistency?
- We agree a reference sample and tolerance at enquiry stage, then sort and photograph every batch before loading.
- Can you match stone across project phases?
- Yes — we retain reference samples and reserve material where the programme is known in advance.
- What Incoterms do you offer?
- FOB and CIF are standard; other terms can be discussed.
- Do you provide sustainability documentation?
- We can confirm origin and provide standard export documents. Specific certifications should be requested at enquiry stage.

- What is the minimum order?
- One 20 ft container, though large projects may run multiple containers against a programme.
