Garden Edging Stones and Border Rock in Bulk

Edging is the detail that makes a bed look finished, and it is a repeat-purchase line because every planting scheme needs it. We supply the three formats that sell: rounded cobbles, cut setts and split natural edging.

  • Cobbles, setts and split edging in one supply base
  • Natural colour throughout — no coating to chip
  • Crated or bulk bagged depending on format
  • Consistent thickness for a level top line

Choosing between cobble, sett and split edging

Rounded cobbles suit informal cottage and gravel gardens and are the easiest to lay by hand. Cut setts give a crisp architectural line and bed into mortar cleanly. Split natural edging stands upright as a low retaining lip and is the right choice where a bed sits higher than the lawn.

Thickness consistency is what buyers judge

For an edge to look right, the top line has to be level. That depends on the pieces being close in thickness, which is a sorting job rather than a quarrying one. We sort to a stated tolerance so the installer is not shimming every third stone.

Colour families that pair with paving

Grey granite, buff sandstone, black basalt and mixed natural river tones cover most schemes. Where a customer is matching existing paving, we send physical samples before production so the tone is confirmed against the real slab rather than a screen image.

Packing for weight and breakage

Setts and split edging are crated on pallets with strapping and corner protection because edge damage is what causes rejection at delivery. Rounded cobbles travel well in jumbo bags. Both formats are stacked to the container weight limit rather than filled by volume.

How much edging to order

Work in linear metres. A 100 mm sett line takes about ten pieces per metre; rounded cobble edging takes eight to twelve depending on size. Send us the total run and we will convert it to pieces, tonnage and pallet count.

Wholesale, bulk and export details

This product is supplied on the same commercial basis as the rest of our range: quantity confirmed against container payload, packing quoted separately and documentation prepared to your broker's brief.

Questions buyers ask about garden edging stones

What stone is best for garden edging?
Hard granite, basalt and dense sandstone all perform well. Avoid soft, high-absorption stone in frost-prone climates because repeated freeze-thaw spalls the exposed top face.
Do edging stones need to be set in mortar?
Setts and formal lines usually are, for a permanent true edge. Rounded cobbles and split edging are often laid dry into a compacted trench, which is faster and allows the line to be adjusted later.
How many stones per metre?
Roughly ten for 100 mm setts and eight to twelve for cobbles depending on diameter. Give us the linear metres and we will convert it precisely for your chosen format.
Will the colour fade outdoors?
No. The colour is natural to the stone rather than applied, so it weathers gently rather than fading or peeling the way coated concrete edging does.
How is edging packed for export?
Setts and split pieces are crated on pallets with strapping; cobbles ship in jumbo bags or bulk. Crating adds cost but prevents the edge chipping that causes claims on arrival.
Can you match our existing paving?
Send a photograph and, ideally, a sample. We will ship physical samples of the closest matches before you commit to a production quantity.
