What landscapers need from a stone supplier

Landscapers need reliable grading, clean stone and on-time delivery. A bag that looks different from the sample or a container that arrives late can throw off a whole project programme. We quote against retained samples and agreed delivery windows.

Bulk versus bagged on site

Large sites usually prefer loose bulk or one-tonne jumbo bags tipped directly into storage bays. Smaller residential jobs need 20–25 kg bags or smaller bulk bags that can be moved by hand. We can split a container across formats.

Phase project matching

For phased projects we retain a signed reference sample and reserve material from the same sorting batch where possible. This keeps phase two visually consistent with phase one, even if months pass between orders.

Size and shape for the job

Rounded pebbles suit beds and water features. Angular chippings suit driveways and trafficked areas. We recommend the right product for the surface use rather than pushing a single stock line.

Sub-base and drainage advice

Stone performs best over a properly prepared base. We can advise on typical sub-base depth, membrane specification and drainage falls for the size and use you specify, though installation remains with your contractor.

Tender and specification support

We can supply written specification wording and sealed reference samples to support tender submissions. This is useful for public-realm and architect-specified projects where the stone is named in the contract documents.

Container payload planning

A 20ft container carries roughly 24–26 tonnes of decorative stone. On mixed orders we plan the weight split by product so the container is neither under-filled nor overweight, and heavier cobbles are loaded low.

Site delivery and handling

We can pack to suit site access constraints — hand-carry bags for restricted sites, jumbo bags for crane offload, or loose bulk where storage and handling equipment is available. Tell us your site setup when you enquire.

This product is supplied on the same commercial basis as the rest of our range: quantity confirmed against container payload, packing quoted separately and documentation prepared to your broker's brief.
